Planned Facility Projects

All Schools

All Vestavia Hills City Schools campuses will receive heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and roofing improvements as part of an energy efficiency plan which will save the school system more than $1 million per year in utility costs. All schools will also receive general facility, safety, and accessibility improvements.

Vestavia Hills Elementary Cahaba Heights

The VHECH campus will receive safety and security improvements, heating and air conditioner upgrades, interior and exterior LED lighting upgrades, and plumbing improvements. Interior spaces will be painted, and the school's playground and driveways will be improved as well.

Vestavia Hills Elementary Dolly Ridge

The VHEDR campus will receive safety and security improvements, heating and air conditioner upgrades, interior and exterior LED lighting upgrades, and roof replacements. The school's canopy and bathrooms will be upgraded, and accessibility to the field and parking lots will be improved. The gym floor will be replaced along with classroom windows. The school will also receive a new kitchen addition to adequately serve the number of students and staff at the school.

Vestavia Hills Elementary East

The VHEE campus will receive safety and security improvements, heating and air conditioner upgrades, interior and exterior LED lighting upgrades, and roof replacements. The school's canopy, bathrooms, and classroom cabinetry will be upgraded. The old kitchen and cafeteria space will be renovated to accommodate new classrooms and multipurpose meeting space. The gym will also be expanded and modernized.

Vestavia Hills Elementary Liberty Park

The VHELP campus will receive safety and security improvements, heating and air conditioner upgrades, and interior and exterior LED lighting upgrades. Sidewalks and exterior drainage systems will be improved. The interior of the school will be painted, and the gym will receive a new floor.

Vestavia Hills Elementary West

The VHEW campus will receive safety and security improvements, heating and air conditioner upgrades, and interior and exterior LED lighting upgrades. The school's roof will be replaced, and the exterior façade of the school will be updated. Bathrooms and classroom cabinetry will be upgraded. The current West gym will be converted into new classrooms and multipurpose meeting space, and the old Vestavia Hills Civic Center Recreation Gym will be improved to serve as the new West gym. To accommodate the gym changes, an enclosed connector will be built from the VHEW campus to the Recreation Center gym.

Liberty Park Middle School

The LPMS campus will receive safety and security improvements, heating and air conditioner upgrades, and interior and exterior LED lighting upgrades. The interior of the school will be painted, and new sidewalks will be added. The school will also receive a second, multipurpose gymnasium to accommodate the number of teams and programs at LPMS that need gym space.

Louis Pizitz Middle School

The Pizitz campus will receive safety and security improvements, new windows, and additional locker room space by the Lower Gym.

Vestavia Hills High School Freshman Campus

The VHHS Freshman Campus will receive safety and security improvements, heating and air conditioner upgrades, and interior and exterior LED lighting upgrades. The roof will be replaced, and bathrooms will be upgraded. The interior of the school will be painted and receive new flooring, and the school's parking lot will be improved.

Vestavia Hills High School Main Campus

The VHHS Main Campus will receive safety and security improvements, heating and air conditioner upgrades, and interior and exterior LED lighting upgrades. The roof will be replaced, and bathrooms will be upgraded. The interior of the school will be painted. Science labs will be upgraded. Arts students will receive all-new band, choir, dance, and theatre rooms to accommodate the number of students in those programs. The school will also receive a new kitchen as well as an indoor multipurpose facility.

Vestavia Hills Elementary Central Site (1289 Montgomery Highway)

The Vestavia Hills Elementary Central building is being sold, but the Board of Education will retain the Shawntel Dixon Jones Memorial Track located behind the school. The interior portion of the track, which is currently a soccer field, will be converted into a seven-court tennis facility including a center court, bathrooms, improved parking, and space for the future addition of pickleball courts. Youth soccer teams using the Central field will move their games to Vestavia Hills Elementary Dolly Ridge, which has a better playing surface and field lighting. This project will be completed before the tennis courts are removed at Vestavia Hills High School.
